[Later, once everyones done all their nonsense and gone to bed... Tsuyukusa swings his head down, hanging off his bed upside-down. A leaf flutters to the floor.]
[it's late and frankly he's still kind of pissed off about the trial all together, but he's since calmed down enough that he's just staring up at the bunk above him. it's why he's not entirely surprised when tsuyukusa looks down, and he watches the leaf flutter past before looking at him.]
Maybe we're not meant to understand. [annoying, considering they just spent nine hours going through this circus of a trial.] Or maybe she didn't think her reasons were important to share. But it's something I've been thinking about since they told us graduation guarantees wishes. Some people might think that it's easier to knock out the competition to make sure they get what they want.
There usually is. [it's just other world things, he thinks.] We might not find out for a long time, especially if we're supposed to be here for a year. But I don't believe that this dorm wars thing wasn't a set-up for things like this to start happening either.
...no. I'm probably going to have to play along and buy it back with any vouchers I get. Supposedly if I pay the right price they can summon it, but it shouldn't have to be that way in the first place.
No, you shouldn't have to pay to get what's yours back... I guess I have to save mine up to get my powers back, since I have my staff, but it's broken. [So. It's basically useless.]
Any way to fix the staff? [that seems more important here, especially when he pauses again.] It's...something that helps a friend of mine. Without it, he's pretty powerless.
[He dissapears from view to rummage around in his bed(!?), making more leaves fall onto the floor. He pops back down, holding half of a staff in his hand, splintery wood on one end, the other end the twisted and broken remains of the head of a shakujo staff, a single ring still dangling from one side of it impotently.]
I don't know how. Normally when it breaks I just resummon it from new material.
Right. It's a shitty system, but if it's what we have to do then we'll make it work. [he feels the same bro, it sucks.] Just keep doing what you can to earn vouchers. Maybe if we get enough of our things and our powers back, we can get out of here sooner.
...yeah? [seems like that's in line with something one of the dorms heads said.] Supposedly the wish thing is the appeal of the school. People apply here just for that.
Maybe this place knew that about you and that's why you're here.
... I guess, but I still don't like it, I know everyone keeps saying we agreed to it but without that memory it just feels like someone made the choice for me. Maybe I would have agreed to it knowing that but... [It's just annoying!!!]
[That's fine Tsuyukusa would not share his either.]
Well then it can't just be that it's picking people who have a strong wish, right? Viola said she agreed to come here for the wish but she didn't have a solid idea what she wanted to use hers for. [Which just seems backwards to him but hey whatever.]
... I guess so. I don't know. She seemed pretty forthcoming with information otherwise. [Hrm.]
Things were a lot easier when I just assumed all humans had bad intentions but I know now that's not the case. So it's hard. [Because SOME people aren't lying but SOME still ARE so.]
Guess you just have to keep talking to them to figure out what they're thinking. It's not always easy, but it's better than second-guessing later and wishing you had.

Hey. Are you asleep?

No. What's up?

... Do you think this is gonna happen again?

[Don't most people either have a villain speech or pray for mercy because they had no choice?]

That does sort of make sense. But it's not like only one person can graduate and get a wish... right?
[NOW HE'S??? NOT SURE???]

[Like he expected Principal Bear to have way more answers than he seemed to???]
So there's probably... some sort of complicating factor we don't know.

Did you ever find that thing you were looking for, by the way?

[So. It's basically useless.]
What does the thing you lost even do?

Could always ask for some superglue. [bad joke.] Maybe you can use a few vouchers to bind it back together? It's just wood, isn't it?

[He can just steal a twig for a new staff! Staff on demand.]

No, but I should. We use those voucher things, right? I hate that we need to work to get what's ours back, but...
[WHAT CAN YOU DO.]

[And then, pulling back a bit onto his bed and lowering his voice.]
I hope it is, because I could really use one.

Maybe this place knew that about you and that's why you're here.

[It's just annoying!!!]
Do you have a wish yourself, then?
no subject
[but he shrugs.]
I don't know. Maybe. I haven't thought about it much. [and unfortunately he wouldn't share, sorry tsuyukusa.]
